Our Story
Twenty years of passion, craft, and community, told one plate at a time.
Gerry Sarmiento
Gerry spent years climbing the corporate ladder, managing global operations for Fortune 500 companies. What began in 2005 as a simple investment became something he never expected, a calling he embraced completely.
He fell for the craft of Italian cooking and the ritual of bringing people together around a table, pouring his drive into the food and the menu, dishes made with care, slow cooked sauces, and a standard that treats every plate as if it were going to his own family.
For Gerry, hospitality is personal. He believes a great restaurant isn't built on trends but on consistency, heart, and the conviction that every guest should feel truly at home the moment they sit down.
"We never set out just to serve great food, we set out to create a place with heart."
Adriana Sarmiento
Adriana is the warmth you feel the moment you walk through the door. After her own career managing global operations in the corporate world, she found her true calling in hospitality, welcoming guests and making every visit feel personal.
She has spent two decades curating Mezzanotte's wine list, Italian forward, with room for surprises, and pairing it to the kitchen. She'll happily pour you a taste before you commit, and often knows your preference before you do.
Together with Gerry, Adriana built something rare: a restaurant with the warmth of a family home. Her belief that every guest deserves genuine hospitality is the reason first time visitors become longtime friends.
"A great meal deserves a great wine, and every guest deserves to feel at home."
The Mezzanotte Story
Two corporate careers, one unexpected investment in 2005, and a passion we never saw coming. What began as a simple business venture became our greatest love, and a family built around the table.
After years in the corporate world, Gerry and Adriana make what begins as a simple investment, and unexpectedly find their greatest passion.
Word spreads through Cypress. The dining room becomes a gathering place where regulars start to feel like family.
The wine cellar grows, an Italian forward list, curated bottle by bottle to match the kitchen.
Tapas Madness Wednesday is born, a rotating small plates menu that becomes a midweek tradition.
Birthdays celebrated, anniversaries toasted, friendships formed, Mezzanotte becomes woven into the life of the neighborhood.
Twenty years on, every guest is still welcomed as family, the same value we opened our doors with.
Before Mezzanotte, our lives looked very different. In 2005, what started as a simple investment unexpectedly became our greatest passion. After years spent climbing the corporate ladder and managing global operations for Fortune 500 companies, neither of us imagined we would one day find ourselves running a restaurant, selecting wines, creating menus, and welcoming guests as part of the Mezzanotte family.
When we created Mezzanotte, our goal was never just to serve great Italian food and exceptional wine. We wanted to create a place with heart, a restaurant where people could gather, celebrate, connect, and feel truly at home. Every detail of what we do is guided by our passion and our commitment to providing a warm, memorable experience for every guest who walks through our doors.
For us, Mezzanotte is much more than a restaurant. It is an extension of our lives and the values we hold dear. Around our tables, birthdays are celebrated, anniversaries are toasted, friendships are formed, and life's important moments are shared. There are times of joy, times of reflection, and countless occasions where good food and wine bring people together.
We invite you to experience Mezzanotte the way we do, as family. Whether you're joining us for the first time or returning as a longtime friend, you'll always find a warm welcome, genuine hospitality, and a place at our table.
